Welcome! I’m Ysabel de la Oya in the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA).

I’m located in the Barony of Forgotten Sea in the Kingdom of Calontir with a primary focus on Western European cooking from the High Middle Ages to the Renaissance.

One of my favorite topics is the System of Four Humors and how it relates to medieval health and diet.

I also enjoy taking a look at the everyday domestic life of average medieval people and have studied the diets and living conditions of people from surfs to the town headman.

I’ve also started down a rabbit hole of peasant economics and what various classes can afford to eat. I hope to have more on that on this site later.

I’ve been in charge of and helped with many feasts and lunches in Calontir and enjoy organizing and cooking for various vigil tables. I love to show off that you don’t have to choose between “period” food and food that tastes great! SCA food can be both!
